HATHERLEIGH REGENERATION CONTINUES WITH RELEASE OF COMMERCIAL UNITS

THE first commercial units as part of a regeneration scheme in the heart of Hatherleigh have been snapped up – 12 months ahead of them being built.

Redevelopment of the former cattle market site by Kingswood Homes has been ongoing since late 2019. The developer has sold all of the houses at the development, known as The Market Quarter.

Work is now underway on the final phase of the development – commercial units and apartments.

To market these latest properties, the developer has partnered with local business Stevens’ Estate Agents.

James Stevens, partner at Stevens Estate Agents, said: “Hatherleigh is a very historic town and local people have strong ties to its history and want to see it preserved. Kingswood’s development has been very sympathetic to the area, offering a contemporary twist on the traditional style cottages seen locally.

“While all of the homes on the residential part of the development have been sold, it’s very early days for the commercial units and apartments – work on those has only recently started and there’s nothing for potential purchasers to see. Despite this, and the fact that it’s likely to be around 12 months before they can be occupied, we’ve already taken reservations of half of the six commercial units.”

Prices for the commercial units range from £81,995 to £177,995. Each one will have a disabled access toilet, parking and window frontage leaving buyers the opportunity to fit out to their business’s requirements.

“The  commercial units being built by Kingswood are in a fabulous location with residential properties being built around them so they will have a huge amount of traffic of footfall coming past them. They’re close enough to existing commercial properties and shops and far enough away for people to use both and for them to complement one another,” James added.

“Hatherleigh is well catered for in terms of hairdressers and convenience stores but there are opportunities for a whole range of different types of businesses including offices or service businesses as it’s a growing town.”

Lesley Myers, sales director for Kingswood Homes, commented: “We’ve made remarkable progress in redeveloping this landmark site in the heart of Hatherleigh. The Market Quarter has become somewhere people love living and in future we hope they’ll also enjoy working here too.  Stevens’ Estate Agents is a well-known local business and by partnering with them we hope we can help match business with the perfect premises.”
