Ryan, 28, said: “Winning the Pride in the Job award for the second time and knowing that the way we work is consistently good means everything. Since winning my last award I’ve moved to a new, larger site and I’m managing more people, a typical day sees me working with around 70 people. We’ve adapted really well to each other and everyone on site is extremely hard working so this award is not just for me, it’s a huge team effort. I’m really lucky to receive the support from director level, all the way through to our team on site, we honestly couldn’t do it without their support and guidance. .”
Ryan has been recognised for his work at Kingswood’s Green Hills in Blackburn. He has worked there since September 2022 after moving from The Hawthorns in Elswick.
“Moving to Green Hills has been a big change. The Hawthorns was a very flat site but Green Hills, as the name suggests, is on a hillside. We have had to look at structural details and there’s been lots to think about that I didn’t have at The Hawthorns but it’s all part of building up my experience and learning new skills.”
Ryan, who is from Preston, started his career as an apprentice joiner, was a trainee site manager for 18 months, then worked as an assistant site manager for three years. He was promoted to site manager in 2021.
Last year Ryan also went on to win a Seal of Excellence and won a Regional Award in the Medium Builder category at the Pride in the Job awards. He will find out in the autumn if he has gone onto win them again this time round. The national Supreme Award winners – the finale of the competition – will be revealed in January 2024.
Kingswood Homes construction director Stuart Bullough said: “All site managers aspire to win a Pride in the Job award at some point in their career, so for Ryan to have won a second one in as many years is a huge achievement and demonstrates the support in place to facilitate Ryan and the team in producing consistent quality. Ryan is building on his experience at Green Hills and is working with a really solid team of trades and subcontractors. This award, along with the regional award that we are hoping to win for a third time this year, cannot be underestimated. They symbolise a huge success for Kingswood Homes and show that our homes are built to exacting standards meaning we handover the best homes possible to our customers.”
