The Scarisbrick 4 house type at Green Hills Homestead Collection offered the perfect solution to their needs. After previously viewing the Byre B show home, the Spilmans were impressed by Kingswood Homes’ innovative approach to living spaces.
During the search for their new home, they found that nothing compared to Kingswood Homes. “We realised that as we viewed houses, both old and new, we were comparing the layout to a Kingswood home. Every house was a compromise in some way, or would need work,” Tim said.
The Scarisbrick 4’s layout particularly impressed them with its versatile open-plan living area, which creates the perfect environment for family time. “The layout gave us that family and entertaining space we wanted with the added bonus of a separate snug. We can close the door and not worry about all of the toys.” Samantha explains. The Scarisbrick 4 also benefits from bi-fold doors seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, expanding the living area.

The family especially appreciated how the house design solved their previous challenges with traditional home layouts. “With two young boys, we found that a traditional home layout didn’t work for our family,” they said. The open-plan design of the Scarisbrick 4 allows them to simultaneously manage homework time, meal preparation, and family relaxation – activities that were difficult to coordinate in their previous home’s separate rooms.
Using Kingswood’s innovative Shape Your Home concept, the Spilmans customised their upstairs layout to create a larger master bedroom. This flexibility in design is something that no other house builder offers and was a key factor in their decision making. There is also the option to turn the Scarisbrick 4 into a three-bedroom home with each bedroom served by its own en-suite.

Green Hills is designed around shared green spaces including village greens, pocket parks, and open swales. The community-focused development includes The Oval, which serves as a focal point for community gatherings, alongside wildflower meadows and linear parks.
Located near these green spaces while maintaining proximity to local amenities, the Scarisbrick 4 at Green Hills offered an ideal compromise between Tim’s desire for countryside living and Samantha’s preference for community connection. “Green Hills provides the best of both worlds – with the abundance of green space giving a real feel of being in the country, while in reality only being minutes away from local amenities.”
Summing up their experience, Tim and Samantha stated “everyone at Kingswood has been great to deal with – being particularly sensitive to us living on an incomplete site. All workers were extremely helpful and attentive and happy to help with any questions we had.”

The Homestead Collection is influenced by Blackburn’s Georgian architecture and all the homes feature Georgian windows, high ceilings and optional coving detail to give an authentic traditional feel.
