THE race is on for teams to sign up for the Great Big North West Tour in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice.
More than 20 teams have already secured a place on the starting grid for the event on September 24 and 25, organised by Kingswood Homes in conjunction with Just Drive. With the deadline for entries looming (September 10), the homebuilder is driving home the need to register now.
Those who sign up could be in with a chance of winning a three-bedroom home at Green Hills, Feniscowles, Blackburn, as participants will receive six entries into the Great Big House Giveaway.
Head of sales Lesley Myers said: “The Great Big North West Tour is the first major event in our year of fundraising in aid of Derian House, during which we aim to raise £300,000 and giveaway a house at our Green Hills development. We have seven in-house teams signed up, plus teams from the charity and our subcontractors have agreed to join in the fun but it would be fantastic to have more cars on the starting grid helping to raise money for such a fantastic cause.
“The registration fee is £100 per team, plus you’ll need to buy the car for less than £1,000. The rally promises to be a fun-filled event during which you’ll be able to explore Lancashire. It’s a great way for businesses to help their staff bond or for friends to catch up after months apart.”
The Great Big North West Tour is open to teams of up to five people. They will need to buy a car for less than £1,000 and decorate it, before driving around Lancashire taking part in challenges along the way. The cars will be auctioned in aid of Derian House,
Teams will be responsible for putting their cars up for auction online in aid of Derian House before the event with bids closing on September 25. Those who want to keep their car afterwards must offer a donation of £1,000 to Derian House.
There will be a range of points and prizes available including best team theme and fancy dress; best decorated car; most money raised; the car with the highest mileage and the highest valued car bought within the budget.
Challenges will be announced during the event. The winners and prizes will be awarded at Green Hills, Blackburn at 4pm on September 25.
