HOSPICE IS A CAUSE CLOSE TO HOME FOR GREAT BIG HOUSE GIVEAWAY BACKERS

A PERSONAL link to Derian House Children’s Hospice has led an estate agent to step forward as one of two main supporters of a gala ball at which a house will be given away.

Little Hoole based Kingswood Homes donated a house worth £250,000 to Derian House for the Great Big House Giveaway.

The winner of the house at the award-winning Green Hills development in Feniscowles, Blackburn, will be announced at a sell-out gala ball at Hoghton Tower on September 17.

The ball is being sponsored by estate agents Farrell Heyworth and law firm Brown Turner Ross.

Laura Gittins, PR and marketing manager at Farrell Heyworth, explained: “A member of our team has received fantastic support from Derian House and so we know first hand the wonderful things they have put back into the community. We became involved with the charity last year and when we heard about the Great Big House Giveaway it seemed like the perfect fit. We were blown away by the incredible gift from Kingswood in giving away a house and to support their kindness we’re sponsoring the gala ball where the winner will be announced.

“We’re also entering anyone who has their house valued by us during July and August the chance to have a free entry into the draw, which is exciting. We also know that while some people would love to win and live in the house being given away themselves, there may be others who are from out of the area and unable to relocate. If for whatever reason the winner doesn’t want to keep the property, we will sell it for them free of charge.”

Co-sponsors of the ball Brown Turner Ross will also be offering their services free of charge by managing the legalities of transferring ownership of the property to the winner.

Samantha Bushell, managing director at Brown Turner Ross is also delighted to be co-sponsoring the event.  She said “We have a longstanding connection with both Kingswood Homes and Derian House.  This is an amazing donation by Kingswood and we hope that it provides much needed funds for the hospice in these difficult times, not to mention a high quality home for the prize winner.”

The house up for grabs in the prize draw is a three-bedroom detached Byre 3 style property, construction of which is being overseen by an award-winning site manager.

The Byre 3 includes a living room at the front, with a generous combined kitchen / dining / family room extending the width of the property with patio doors leading out to the rear garden.  A handy utility/ cloakroom, plus storage space completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, two of the three bedrooms are doubles, with one boasting an en-suite to complement the family bathroom.

Kingswood sales director Lesley Myers said: “We’re extremely grateful to Farrell Heyworth and Brown Turner Ross for supporting the Great Big House Giveaway and Derian House by sponsoring the gala ball and offering their professional services to the winner. We’ve been blown away by the generosity of a range of businesses who’ve donated materials or their time to help. Travis Perkins and Benchmarx Kitchens provided the kitchen; Quooker a hot water tap; Jewsons donated a lintel and hard landscaping pack; internal pipework is courtesy of JG Speedfit; while Warren Contracting, Tony Hill Brickwork and Pears Roofing all provided labour at a reduced cost.”

Caroline Taylor, head of income, marketing and communications at Derian House, said: “They say it takes a village to raise a child – it also takes a community of construction and property industry professionals to give away a house! It’s fantastic to see so many businesses coming together to support the Great Big House Giveaway and gala ball in aid of Derian House.”
